But, there are times that these simple remedies aren’t enough to avoid gum diseases. So once you develop such problem, you can try to consider these five common ways to cure gum diseases:

1. Dental cleansing. You can have a professional level of oral cleaning every time you visit your dentist. Usually this can be done by the dentist himself or by his staff or dental hygienist. Believe it or not, brushing or flossing alone couldn’t remove plaque and tartar so it is recommended that you consult your dentist from time to time.

2. Root scaling and smoothening. This is more thorough and all-encompassing dental cleaning method and is done under anaesthesia. This process can eradicate bad bacteria causing gum disease while in the process of smoothening the rough spots.

3. Soft tissue grafts – This is a surgical procedure done to reinforce receding gums and fill the teeth.  This will make the gum more resistant to gum diseases.

4. Flap surgery – This is another surgical procedure to lift back the gum to remove the tartar build up.  When the gum is pulled back into place, it reduces the space between the gum and the teeth.  As a result, chances for any bacteria to slip in and form are lessened.

5. Antibiotic treatments – Antibiotics are one of the effective treatments of gum disease if the problem is already chronic or persistent.  But you should never take an antibiotic unless prescribed by your dentist.

Apart from dental cleaning, which is often recommended method at least twice a year; you don’t need to undergo other procedures to cure gum disease. To avoid gum disease, you have to take good care of your oral health.
