New Book Studies Influence of Apostle Johns Time in Exile

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. (PRWEB) February 09, 2012

Floyd I. Buffenbargers new book The History of Revelation (published by WestBow Press) is an in-depth study of the history and cultural setting behind the Book of Revelation as it relates to apostle Johns banishment to the isle of Patmos.

An Excerpt from the book:

Revelation is a book of prophecy of Gods last call to an unbelieving population. A look at the Book of Revelation from a more historical view, viewed from scripture and yet to reveal the future of things to come each step from the Old Testament, until John wrote the book of Revelation in A.D. 96. The people during this era of time would have been familiar with the symbolism the apostle John used and as a result of the teachings of the Old Testament prophets and of the New Testament, apostles.

Buffenbarger examines the history of Asia Minor during this period, noting the roles of early Christians and the persecution of the pre-Christian Roman Empire.

Patmos, during John’s time, was the place where prisoners were sent live out their last days, Buffenbarger notes. Yet today, Patmos is a beautiful Greek island resort in the Aegean Sea, just off the coast of Turkey.

Buffenbarger believes it impossible to overstate the importance of this study. The history of Revelation will give us a fresh look at the ancient prophecies of the past, present prophecies, and prophecies well into the future.

In Pages Of The New Book Runaway Mind, My Own Race With Bipolar Disorder, People With Bipolar Disorder Or Those With Loved Ones Suffering Will Find Hope

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) February 09, 2012

The story unfolds as told from the unique points of view of Maggie Reese and her mother, father, best friend, sister and other family giving you a clear movie like experience of what not only the individual with the Bipolar Disorder goes through but what the family must endure. There is hope! You will read how Maggie and her family and friends overcame the illness, grew together, learned to live with the disorder and the many skills they would needed to continue to find the hope and inspiration that allow them to lead a happy and fulfilled life even to this very day.

Discover how Maggie became a high school and college cross country track star on a full-ride scholarship when just like a shot at the beginning of a track meet, my own race with the Bipolar Disorder began. Little did she know that the only thing her cross country running speed would help her with was to escape from a maximum security mental institution! Maggie’s “lows” were full of anxiety and pain followed by “highs” which seemed to be pure magic. Her loving parents, fearing for her safety, hired bodyguards to try to protect her from not only herself but the predators that surrounded her in her life.

As you enjoy the journey in “Runaway Mind, My Own Race with Bipolar Disorder” you begin to have a clear picture of the actual mania side of Bipolar Disorder instead of the depression side of the Bipolar Disorder as found in most similar books. Runaway Mind is available today at Amazon.com

This book is a must read for anyone living with or associated with someone with the Bipolar Disorder.

Living every day with the Bipolar disorder can mean amazing creativity for Maggie who seems to can get so much done with such energy! Then there are projects that never seem to get finished and knowing possibly tomorrow might bring a deep sadness. The side effects of medications may just put a wet blanket on her day with nausea and illness. In each day there is a dark secret in the back of her mind, the knowledge that an episode could happen again, if not for the medication, a bipolar maniac episode that would take away her happiness, family and her life.

At long last when she finally started on the long road to recovery, Maggie discovered that she could relay upon, trust and have faith in her last bodyguard. True love did find Maggie and she can truly say that she married her bodyguard!

But to get the full story you will need to read the book!

Maggie Reese, the author of the book Runaway Mind, My Own Race with Bipolar Disorder, wrote this book with the vision of helping to give hope to others living with the Bipolar Disorder like herself and give their families and friends hope that a person with this mental illness can lead a normal productive life.

Bipolar Disorder, today it is a buzz word in the news and media for right now for over 3 percent of the population suffers from this mental illness whose onset is almost always during the fragile teenage years. The only books you seem to find are dry, clinical accounts of sad, mad, lost people. Not full of exactly encouraging words for a Mom and Dad desperately clutching at straws for their child. Today Maggie Ressse holds true to her vision to change the stigma of Bipolar Disorder and to help families understand what their child is going through and discover hope that there can be a future filled with possibilities.

Her memoirs prove that a person suffering from Bipolar Disorder can go away … and come back to life again.

The International Bipolar Foundation nominated and approved Maggie Reese to be on their Executive Board and she is the recipient of the 2011 Young Advocate of the Year Award presented by N.A.M.I. of San Diego.

Help Maggie plant the seeds of hope for those living with and affected by the Bipolar mental disorder, order the book or learn more about Maggie Reese at http://www.runawaymind.net, read her daily blog Maggies Runaway Mind world at chicwildmamma.blogspot.com, follow her and post questions at facebook.com/RunawayMind. She can be heard monthly on her show Runaway Mind on Blog Talk Radio interviewing her guests in a fun and honest style.

The purpose was not to honor any particular President, but to honor the office of the Presidency. It was first thought that March 4, the original inauguration day, should be deemed Presidents Day. Linfield College expert offers tips on how to find hundreds of college scholarships

McMinnville, OR (PRWEB) February 09, 2012

People who lack family background or familiarity with higher education often have a difficult time deciding whether to go to college, or knowing how to get there, said Michael Reyes, a multicultural program director at Linfield.

Many of our youth are trying to figure out what to do with their lives, Reyes said. But its possible for anyone to go to college, whether its a community college, public university or small private college. It just takes knowing how to navigate the system.

HELPFUL TIPS

High school students and their parents can talk to school counselors or teachers, who can offer encouragement and connect them with admission counselors at colleges. Many families often feel more comfortable if they go through personal connections, and students who have backup support are more likely to succeed.

Hundreds of scholarships are available, but application deadlines are coming up. Many are due in February and March, so its best to start applying now.

Many high schools host college fairs in late winter, giving prospective students a chance to learn more about college offerings and campus life. Ask your school counselor when and where college fairs are being held in your area, and attend as many as possible. Bring questions, and then explore college websites and call admission offices to arrange visits.

More students are using alternative routes to get through college. Consider living at home, working or going to school part-time if that works best, but be aggressive about scholarships. If you do end up borrowing money for college, borrow wisely and be thrifty.

Higher education is sometimes not part of young peoples mindset, said Hilda Escalera, who serves at Linfield College as a mentoring coordinator through the AmeriCorps Retention Project. We tell high school students, Yes, you can do it. Education is the best form of helping our families.

College is invaluable, Reyes said. Its still about employability and social mobility. The lowest paying jobs are the first jobs cut, and those who are better prepared are the first to be rehired.

Anthony J. Bajdek, President of the Friends of Kosciuszko at West Point, Joins Advisory Board of Foundation to Assist in Merian C. Cooper/Kosciuszko Squadron Film Project

McLean, VA (PRWEB) February 10, 2012

The Foundation to Illuminate Americas Heroes announced today the addition of Anthony J. Bajdek, President/Founder of the American Association of the Friends of Kosciuszko at West Point, to the growing list of members of the International Advisory Board of the Foundation, whose purpose it is to develop a Hollywood feature film telling the inspirational story of Merian C. Cooper and the Kosciuszko Squadron to the whole world.

Mr. Bajdek, in addition to his work with the American Association of the Friends of Kosciuszko at West Point, is National Vice President for American Affairs of the Polish American Congress. He is President/Founder of the Polish American Congress of New Hampshire, Immediate Past President of the Polish American Congress of Eastern Massachusetts and Associate Dean (ret.) and Senior Lecturer in History at Northeastern University. Mr. Bajdek was named by the Am Pol Eagle in 2008 as Citizen of the Year as a man who actively promotes Poland in academic and political circles. In 2008, in Krakow, Poland he was awarded a special Kosciuszko Medal by the Kosciuszko Mound Committee (Kopiec Kosciuszki) in recognition of promoting the “kindred spirit and purpose” of the Committee and the American Association of the Friends of Kosciuszko at West Point. He was named “Distinguished Polish American for 2004″ by the New England Chapter of the Kosciuszko Foundation. The Republic of Poland presented him with the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland at West Point in 2002 for his efforts to perpetuate the Annual Kosciuszko Observance at the Academy, as well as for his service to Polonia generally.

Since 2004, Mr. Bajdek has also worked tirelessly through the Polish American Congress to enlist support in state legislatures for passage of Visa Waiver for Poland Resolutions which memorialize the Congress and President of the United States to admit Poland to the Program. To date, twelve state legislatures, namely, MA, NJ, VT, PA, CT, ME, NE, NY, OH, MI, AZ, IL and MA (for the second time) in that order have passed resolutions supporting Poland’s admission to the Visa Waiver Program. He is currently working for passage of such resolutions in NH, RI and TN as well. “Poland’s exclusion from our nation’s Visa Waiver Program is unworthy treatment of a loyal friend and ally of the United States,” Mr. Bajdek stated, and adds that “were Kosciuszko — a man of principle, loyalty, honor and courage in the matter of freedom, independence, democracy and equality for our ‘Glorious Cause’ in America’s War of Independence — to be around in 2012, he likely would refuse invitations to travel to the United States so long as his fellow Poles could not freely travel here, visa-free travel to the United States being enjoyed by the citizens of all member nations constituting the European Union except for Poland, Bulgaria and Romania.”

Mr. Bajdek joins a group of distinguished American and Polish experts, said David C. Jamison, Executive Director of the Foundation. The International Advisory Board is comprised of experts in American and Polish history, aviation, film and production, all of whom share a passion for the story of Merian C. Cooper and the group of American and Polish aviators who formed the famed Kosciuszko Squadron to aid Poland in the Polish-Bolshevik War of 1919-1921. This outstanding and true story of their risk for freedom in remembrance of the personal sacrifice of two Polish officers, Tadeusz Kosciuszko and Kazimierz Pulaski, who came to Americas aid during the Revolutionary War, is one that simply must be made into a feature Hollywood film for the world to see.

Other members of the International Advisory Board include:

** Dr. Michael Peszke, Emeritus Professor of Psychiatry, University of Connecticut, Consultant to the Kosciuszko Squadron Exhibit at the New England Air Museum which was supported by the Polish-American community, and a Historian who has published numerous works on Polish Military history, including the Kosciuszko Squadron.

** Michael Orzachowski , a journalist and writer in Poland. He is the author of the screenplay Wings of Freedom-1920, a screenplay about the true story of Merian C. Cooper and the Kosciuszko Squadron in the Polish-Soviet War of 1919-1920. His screenplay received a scholarship and is supported and backed by the Polish Film Institute in Poland.

** Mr. Pawel Biel is a Polish-American Cinematographer based out of New York City. He has worked on a number of films, documentaries and commercials for clients including Warner Brothers, the History Channel, SYFY, BRAVO, BBC, NBC and ABC. The story of Marian C. Cooper and the Kosciuszko Squadron has greatly influenced and inspired Mr. Biels work and life. He is originally from Krakow.

** Mr. Tomasz Jegierski is the founder and CEO of FT Films in Poland. He and his company specialize in the production and distribution of true historical films. FT Films is recently doing promotion and distribution of Five Days of War about the war in the Republic of Georgia, staring Val Kilmer, Dean Cain and Andy Garcia. The film, directed by Renny Harlin, will have a Polish premiere at the Krakow Film Festival on April 14, 2012.

** Igor I. Sikorsky, Jr., Esq. , son of aviation pioneer and Founder of Sikorsky Aircraft, Igor I. Sikorsky, has been active in aviation history both as a lecturer and author. Active in the Polish American groups as Vice President of the Polish American Cultural Club of Greater Hartford and Counsel to the National Polish American Cultural Club. Mr. Sikorsky has been involved in the presentation of the history of the Kosciuszko Squadron and the role of Merian C. Cooper as an American hero.

** William Ciosek is a founding Board member of the Foundation. He has researched the story of Merian C. Cooper and the Kosciuszko Squadron for over 15 years. He has written the film treatment entitled Honor to You and created and produced the video treatment, entitled The Greatest Story Not Yet Told!, both of which are available within the Foundations website at http://www.illuminateamericasheroes.com

Mr. Ciosek stated, The experts who have joined our initial International Advisory Board will bring additional prominent members of both the Hollywood and Polish film communities to this Board and team. Together they will assist the Foundation to develop and produce a major Hollywood feature film of this great story for the world to see. We are hopeful, he added, that Mr. Bajdek and the other members of our International Advisory Board will take the lead in helping the Foundation reach members and associates of the Polish American communities to enlist their help and support to enable the Foundation to illuminate this great story to the world.

The Foundations achievements in establishing a tax exempt charitable entity, creating and launching a website and embedded YouTube feature film treatment, becoming known and naming Merian C. Cooper as the Greatest American Hero of the Twentieth Century and his involvement with the Kosciuszko Squadron as the Greatest Story Not Yet Told, are hallmark achievements. The work of the Foundation and this Merian C. Cooper/Kosciuszko Squadron feature film project have become known internationally. These remarkable achievements have been funded by a small group who have a passion for the mission of the Foundation to seek out and illuminate the lives of true American heroes, past and present, and they share a vision of illuminating the inspirational story of Cooper and the Kosciuszko Squadron through a Hollywood feature film so that present and future generations can be inspired.

The Foundation is now looking for broad support to get this story told, said Jamison. The Foundation has set an initial goal of raising $ 1 million dollars which will take us through Step Two, securing a Hollywood screen writer and Director for the feature film, plus th
